Of all the things to potentially complain about during golf telecasts, getting insight directly from a competitor about how they're about to play a hole or hit a shot is pretty low on my list. The first one I saw was Max Homa playing No. 13 at Torrey and I thought it was really cool to hear his thought process for a few minutes. Same with Collin Morikawa playing 10 at Riv. I'm surprised the players are willing to do it. I think wearing Airpods when I'm about to hit a shot would make me feel weird.


What's not to like about them? And is your MUTE button broken?

I have liked all the interviews this year, but today's was terrible.  Clark and Hossler are a bit stiff, and instead of just having a "golf specific" conversation with Immelman, this time they had the Jim Nantz substitute (don't know his name) open it with a generic softball, IBF with his usual Pollyanna question "why are you guys a good team?" and then needed Nobilo to close it with a decent question about running out of shirts.  Next time, let Immelman run it, with maybe a Nobilo.  Keep IBF and anyone else out.

I do. The interviews are good additions to the broadcast.

Some are better than others (I agree today's was bad), but… there have been several very good ones.

Not a real fan of bugging the guys when they are playing. But younger folks are used to being connected to their devices at all times . So would probably not affect them too much.

More publicity for them, their sponsors, etc. A greater chance for them to earn some new fans. I'm sure they generally like it. Most of them, anyway. It's an entertainment product.

 ;D  Certainly liked Max's time but he has some personality and mental approach which I think is fostering his good play last couple years or so...  but one can learn a lot more stuff listening to Sub-Par podcasts with Colt and Drew and their guests, like Jon Rahm .

Unlike the clubhouse gang here, with a broad range and depth of life, business, and golf experiences  I've never thought pro golfers were overly focused on anything but their yardages during range time, their stats, and playing status, with different tools today than yesterday.


Not really rocket science but can't wait to listen to Speith...
