Tagalong in Birchwood, WI was originally a 9 hole course from 1925 had an airstrip out-of-bounds to the right of the second hole. The owner flew a Cessna, and a fair number of folks would fly in for the weekend. It was removed in 1998 when the course was expanded to 18 holes.
So much golf to play, so little time....

A place most of you have never heard of and no reason you should.  Ocean Shores Golf Course, in Ocean Shores Wa., had a runway in the middle of what was the front nine.  You had to check for landing aircraft before playing.  The nine still exists, but the runway got too busy and was moved to a much safer spot.

The course has little in architectural value, but is fun to play.  When the wind blows, pretty much every day, it can be a beast.  There are some narrow holes with OB on both sides.

The reverse is also true. Twin Orchard northwest of Chicago was taken over by the Orchard Field airport next door. You know it today at O'Hare International. If I recall correctly, the golf course was about where Terminal 3 is. (O'Hare's main expansion was to the south.)

Tim,

I recall reading that Larry Packard, before he was a gca, was somehow involved in designing the hangar areas that used to sit on the east side of the airport, at the SE corner of the original diamond of runways.

Didn't Casa de Campo Teeth of the Dog, at one point, have an active runway near the 18th? A friend told me there was a gate across the cart path that closed when a plane was approaching. I played it in 2020 and there was a small remaining piece of asphalt in the 18th fairway.

Honorable mention to Pik N Pig BBQ, Carthage, NC
The world's best combination airport, driving range and incredible BBQ.
(Has it reopened yet following the fire?)

I always think of that course in NC on the bluff with the runway down the middle that always shows up on the cover of "Executive Golfer" or whatever, I do not know its name though.

The other that came to mind was Fox Harb'r in Nova Scotia...there is a private runway in the middle of the back nine.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

Bruce,

Until the new airport opened c. 2000, Casa De Campo had an airport runway that had to be crossed with tee shots on #12 & #18.  Gates & bells warned of an incoming flight.  One of the most unique hazards ever, along with the active rail line crossing in front of #6 at Royal Colombo in Sri Lanka.

Maybe Harrison Ford supposed that Penmar GC was an airport.

My first year on the Venice High School golf team, Penmar was our home course.  No homeless encampments next to the course at that time.
