I thought I had played everything over there but never heard of Laurel Country Club.

It was a recommendation from Tiger Bernhardt.  Really good.

Oh, that's in Laurel MS, quite a bit north of the coast. My late cousin was a member but I sadly never got to play it.

I tried to see Fallen Oak in January but they wouldn't let me past the front gate without staying at the casino.  The director of golf even came out to the front gate to explain to me why they couldn't let me in!  I would have stayed at the casino, but the course was going to be closed the next day anyway, so I skipped it and drove up the road to Laurel Country Club instead, which was terrific.

Refusing to visit a course without being comped....typical rater.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

I thought Fallen Oak was pretty good.  Deeper fairway bunkers than I have normally seen on Fazio courses.

I played Fallen Oak a few days ago and its a solid course.  Fazio did soften the bunkers and removed around 15.

The greens are Tiff Eagle and are fast, probably around 12-13. They cut and roll the greens daily. Kudos to the superintendent who has been there since day one.

I'm told since the pandemic they have loosened up restrictions on play except on weekends.

I thought Fallen Oak was a lot of fun, and very pretty to look at, no surprise. I think there were 2 or maybe 3 other groups on the course the day we played.  Post-round, I asked the bartender how she got along given the scarcity of customers. She gave me a wholesome smile and said while she didn't get many tips, she was lucky to get capital "B" big tips.  So that mild inquiry ended up costing us  ;) .

Speaking of post-round, I thought the Half Shell Oyster House a half mile from the hotel was fantastic.  The shrimp and oysters were  literally coming in the side door as we were consuming same at the bar.

Hope you enjoy the golf and the seafood.
