I am glad that Brora is thriving with international support, but in truth there must be dozens or maybe even hundreds of good golf courses struggling to stay afloat, and it is disturbing to see them all have to make videos to compete with each other for charity help. It's kind of like the Go Fund Me campaigns in America to help people pay for medical expenses they can't afford: we ought to be better than that.
When the Brora crowdfunding publicity began earlier in the year I thought along these lines too. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a Brora fan, I have friends from the area who I knew well before I knew of the delights of the course, but I am thinking about the likes of nearby and also thoroughly delightful Tain and Golspie (and the likes of Portmahomac and Bonar Bridge too) who also need visitors and money.
Guess whoever shouts first and loudest, and maybe has more photogenic views and cattle and sheep on the course, gets heard the most?
Crackingly nice area of the world though and with a whole bunch of delightful golf in really quite a small area. If you go there play more than just RDGC and BGC though.
