Tiger's New Course - Payne's Valley
« on: April 19, 2017, 02:58:31 PM »
This will be his first public access design, located in Branson Missouri. I guess Diamante is only open to resort guests?

A tribute to nearby Springfield's pride and joy-  Payne Stewart, but I wonder if the name's similarity to Pine Valley was done on purpose too.

I've mentioned this before on the site, but this will join a Coore Crenshaw course that was taking shape last fall, and the existing Tom Fazio course called Branson Creek before Bass Pro and Big Cedar bought all the property.

Guessing this will be built on the site where a half way completed course by a former Nicklaus associate was halted, supposedly because the new superintendent said it wouldn't drain well. So the guy was fired and construction halted until Johnny Morris could find a suitable replacement.

I believe its being built over the previous John Daly "Murder Rock" golf course. So yes, it does appear there's a pattern of building over old courses

The first 13 holes at Payne’s Valley are rollicking and ready to play, a lineup of seven par fours, three par threes, and three par fives. The full 19 will open later this fall. (Yes, 19: An extra par three sits at the base of the wall below the clubhouse and a waterfall.)
