Hey Ran, I think I should at least be an angel!
« on: April 23, 2020, 10:35:17 AM »
I just passed 5000 posts. It has taken me 17 years to get there. At this rate I'll be 90 before I get to be a YaBB God and will have to post from heaven. I think at least I should be an angel. John Kavanaugh is closing in of YaBB God (capital "G"!!). If he is a god I should be an angel. And what is YaBB anyway? Is it like Yaba daba do?
C'mon Ran.

I'm pretty sure everyone on this site considers you an angel.

 :)

I'm also embarrassed at my number of posts and status. I had that exchange once with another member when teeing it up - he noted to another member of our foursome that I had more posts than he. I said, I'm not so sure that says anything good about me.....

Once upon a time, we were all Gods. Then the high-heid-yins reset the Forum reducing us all to mere minions. What a metaphor for life.

You haven’t really posted until you wake up in the morning and your first thought is I hope what I said isn't as bad as I feel.

Gentlemen,

Was it not "YaBBa"? That might be a nickname for an Australian sportsman!!  But, anyway, I think the double BB stood for bulletin board but I have no idea what the full acronym stands for nor the slightest clue where that idea came from!

YaBB God stands for “Yet another Bulletin Board God”.

I’m not sure that’s applied entirely genuinely.

I wonder why I seem to have kept my posts and status, and apparently few others on this thread did. I know I used to post a lot, but not relative to some others. And I haven't really posted much at all for almost a year now, and the preceding few years were pretty thin, too. Weird.

Maybe it was all those Oakmont posts, no one could delete those.....

It would be interesting to compare number of posts (Barny's pithy snot-offs are rarely more than two sentences) vs. the long, plaintive, discursive, aimless bird-walks I inflict on the studio audience and lurkers.

If memory serves, the Evil Leprechaun was the leader in the clubhouse for at least a decade - followed by The Emperor and his Court.

Putting Ran's deep-dives - though deadly serious - aside, Brains Goodale retired the trophy for erudite insight.

I first saw the jest about the best you are going to feel when you wake up attributed to Joe Brown the actor/comedian with the incredibly large mouth.  I don't know who originated the quote, but I'm sure it was experienced if not voiced by endless generations of heavy drinkers.

For myself, I know the best I will feel is after the first two ibuprofen kick in.
