No ace on 7 at Pebble Beach
« on: June 17, 2019, 02:26:58 AM »
On a very kind week for weather 470 tournament strokes were made from 100 yards on the 7th yet no aces. How common are aces on this hole during the AT&T?

The green was so firm that guys weren't even aiming at the pin. That said, with a more central hole location during the Tuesday practice round, THREE guys holed out from the tee (not sure if they were all first attempts, but still).

I didn't watch on Thursday or Friday, but Saturday you'd have had to hole it on the fly with the front pin -- everyone's shots were winding up well past the hole even if they landed in front.  And Sunday, you'd have had to start it out over the bunkers or the edge of the cliff to let it come in from the right, and even then, the flagstick would have to get in the way or the ball winds up over the back of the green.

I thought the pin and tee on Saturday were gimmicky - vestiges of a Mike Davis set-up :P
