PBA Auction Oct 11, 2018 -prices realized
« on: October 10, 2018, 02:30:44 PM »

This one snuck up on me.  Link to catalog:  https://www.pbagalleries.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/465/

Many of the items are from the collection of A. W. Tillinghast. A small auction (234) items but priced higher than normal.
A lot of smoking and drinking ephemera.

How exciting it is to see an authentic Tillinghast autograph.

Looking at the results the seller and auctioneer would be disappointed with the results, several of the larger ticket items failed to sell.

Does that site regularly sell these types of golf books/literature?

Is there much value in signatures from golf players and archies?  If so I'll hope they will all have long and glorious lives, but note these objects in my will.  But just noted that Phil Rizzuto went for c. $100, even though I patted his dog underneath Yankee Stadium in the late 50's.  I doubt my children will make more than drink money if they tried to sell my books with Nicklaus and Palmer and Jones and Doak, even I die early.........
Life is good.

Any afterlife is unlikely and/or dodgy.

John Emerson -

Yes, PBA Galleries in San Francisco usually has two auctions per year of golf books, artifacts and memorabilia. They produce a very nice catalog in advance of each auction. If you contact them they might send you a copy of the catalog for this recent auction.
