Hoping there might be a person or two around here with some experience/expertise in designing/building a new golf practice facility - either as the contractor, owner, or board member - and would be willing to share their experience with me.
Not much more than a thought at this point - but our campus has recently purchased quite a bit of land - much of it perfect for a 15-20 acre golf practice facility, AND I've been promised that if we can raise the money, we can have some land to build it on.
Our development people asked me to reach out to some folks who might have an idea how much we would have to raise to have a modest, maintainable facility with a couple practice greens, practice bunkers, and a range. I reached out to two architects, both of whom post semi-regularly on this board, and was either big-leagued because they do not see a potential job, or no one pays attention to their public email address on their respective websites.
Took my team to play Valhalla back in October and was impressed with the elegant design and functionality of the little practice area down by the 1st tee. As I recall, there was an ample range area, and very close by, a large bunker separating two large greens that each had their own mown-down/fairway area from which just about any short-game necessity could be practiced. Nothing terribly elaborate, but highly functional and perfect for what we need.
So I suppose I need to ask if anyone has seen this area at Valhalla, and, if so, any idea what a ball-park figure would be necessary to achieve something comparable?
