Who gets the call for the fourth and final course at SS?

Based just on the yardages, I count nine holes (the five par 5s, plus 2, 6, 14 and 15) from the Black tees where I'm thinking I'll have a short iron or wedge approach, and I'm not a super-long hitter. The course isn't going to play nearly as long as the total yardage because so much of it is tied up in par fives.

That's the nature of a course with extra par-5's, if you assume you're not going for those greens in two.  Black Forest has the same effect, with a bunch of short par-4's and a short par-3 to boot, yet the course still kicks most people's butts.  Half the courses I saw last week on Tenerife had five or six par-5 holes, so it must be a proven resort-friendly option.

Another somewhat unusual feature of the new course: it opens and closes with par 5s.

Wyncote (Oxford, PA) has that as well, but with 5s to open and close each nine as well.  I don't think I like that level of symmetry, although I do like that course.

Where we are currently, I think its fairly bold to build a course with only 3 one holes.  Now a days i think it would be much easier to sell a course with  six par 3s than three par 3s, and Streamsong and Richard Mack deserve a lot of credit.

I expect that will end up being a par three course on the land close to the Hotel.
I think you can assume its one of the three who already did work there.

Reading the article, I see that they grassed fwys with Celebration. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the Red and Blue grassed with 419?

Thanks for posting...I just wanted to call attention to your last article.  That "Streamsong Black from the Air" is one of the worst fly-by videos I've ever seen.  About gave me a seizure there was so much skipping around.  Wow! So bad I had to post about it.


The course looks really cool though. Should be a fantastic additional to the resort.  Can't wait to get down there to check it out in person.
