Take our Goswick day out happening in three weeks. From Edinburgh, it will take me roughly 2 hours I imagine, and there are a few coming from further away (Jon B is coming from the States :) ).
If it takes you 2 hours to get to Goswick from Edinburgh you have gone the wrong way!  It's 5 minutes off the A1.  I reckon 90 minutes from Davidson's Mains.  Jon Wiggett, on the other hand........
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Ben, I agree completely.

Last week I drove 2 hours with two friends to play  (a Doak 3.5?) which we had never seen before.  All we knew was that the greens were great, the fairways wide and that we could play all day for $30.

We were the first group off and played until after dark where we needed to set an iphone by the cup in order to see where to chip and putt. We quit keeping score after 44 holes and played captain's choice the rest of the way.

On the long ride back home, all we talked about was what a blast we had and when and where we would do this again.

Ben,
If I was to ask my buds to go play golf somewhere I don't think that question would come up.  They just want to go play....HNY

You never did make it to Pensacola....although it's more than a couple of hours drive.

I'd drive 2.5 hrs. from Ann Arbor and take the ferry across the lake to play both courses at Whistling Straits. While I'm there I'd hit Black Wolf Run and Erin Hills and make an extended weekend out of it. Not a bad gig if you can get it.  ;)
