Dundonald Links is named as the host of the 2017 Scottish Open.

Will this be a good venue for the event?

Not compared to the recent venues selected for this event.  Average at best.

I took my father there last summer to celebrate his 70th.  We enjoyed it, which I'd attribute to the great weather and welcoming atmosphere among staff and golfers alike, but I wouldn't rush back unless I found myself in the area.  I enjoyed the walkable routing, the simple portacabin clubhouse, the short 11th, and the practice putting green that I could have spent hours on just putting away.

I've found that good practice putting greens make for fun environments, whether private, public, or resort.  I suspect you all knew this anyway.

A good selection - I like Dundonald a lot, and think its 'ratings' suffer from the lack of spectacular water views - the golf course is wonderful.  BTW does Loch Lomond Golf Club still own Dundonald??

Why don't they use Trump Links Aberdeen or Turnberry? Looking at the intellect of the average American voter, these courses might have Presidential status in 2017

Martin,

I do not think all the infrastructure is in place there at this time however I am sure if the money was right the European Tour would happily go there and I would imagine as long as the wind did not get above 20 miles it would provide a good event.
