Jon,
No arrogance here implied or written. I think there are many applications for building good bunkers depending on the design, cost and desire of the client. Everyone has different goals and resources. It is those with the "my way or the highway" thinking that has caused clubs repeated cost that could have been avoided if.... An example is one you may appreciate. A client want a good strategic course with hazards in the right place, right sizes and shapes; but a good angular sand is out of budget.
Do you as the architect? a.) build bunkers like you always have that are big flashy and steep? b.) build flat bunker that the available round sand won't move on? or c.) build no bunkers at all? or d.) (fill in the blank).
I pick b.) for many reasons. Some will pick a.) and that is what I mean by "My way or the highway". I still believe form follows function.
