Please could a new GCA member put in a word on behalf of the 2nd shot at Harlech's celebrated 15th, always an exhilarating and somewhat fearsome stroke on one of the best bunkerless holes in the world. The 2nd shot to the 13th at Rye, the 2nd shot to the 15th at Porthcawl, the Burnham and Silloth strokes already cited, all deserve significant respect in this context (with an emphasis on non-tee-shots). Of course the blindness of the 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) shot does, inevitably, depend in many instances on the quality of the drive: TOC can become distinctly blind, or at any rate severely semi-blind, given driving of appropriate standard...the 17th at Luffness remains one of my favourite holes of this ambiguous kind anywhere in golf.

Some of my favorites:

15 at Sleepy Hollow (long approach over Alps to Punchbowl well below fairway).
6 at Creek Club (another approach to a Punchbowl)
4 at Fishers Island (another Alps/Punchbowl approach)
5 at Fishers Island (uphill Biarritz)
3 at Piping Rock (uphill Redan)
7 at Eastward Ho (uphill Eden-like par-3)
8 at Eastward Ho (uphill approach)
10 at Yale (long uphill shot over bunkers to elevated par-4 green)
12 at Yale (fantastic Alps hole)
4 at St. George's Golf & CC (one of a kind green complex)
2 at Myopia Hunt (second shot into short par-5)
1 at Garden City (tee shot on short par-4)
16 at Merion (semi-blind approach over quarry)
18 at Whippoorwill (uphill approach to par-4 horizon green)
8 at Maidstone (par-3 green mostly obscured by dunes)
1 at Bayonne (approach to Punchbowl-like green)
8 at Old Town Club (tee shot over ridge on par-4)
17 at Somerset Hills (one of several excellent blind to semi-blind tee shots)
