The North course at Silverado was the one that Miller's team did the work on.  I haven't played it, but apparently it's a pretty fair golf course.  The South course is way too short for tour players.

Spyglass seems the most logical venue in Northern California.  Agree with infrastructure concerns regarding Harding Park.

Correct, they have renovated the North but not the South. I would call it a fairly typical "tour style" renovation. There is plenty of length.

Probably wouldn't work in the middle of the high season, but a Broadmoor East or Ross composite would be able to support infrastructure and get Colorado Springs behind it. Thunderstorms on front range in August are an issue.

I like this idea (as well as Colorado GC). Thunderstorms are an issue everywhere in the country in August so I wouldn't rule out Colorado on that basis.

Speaking of Colorado, why not Cherry Hills? The Open hasn't been there since '78...

Cherry Hills might actually be too short for the pros, if you can believe it.... even after all the work that was done there.

The USGA still seems to think enough of it as they have had just about every other event there in recent past (Senior Open, Women's Open, Amateur).

The BMW is there this year; I plan on attending. I suspect they might be using it as a litmus test for another men's major.... we'll see.

They did have the '85 PGA there.

LACC North is hosting the Walker Cup soon, I have been fortunate enough to play it and it is a great test with the space for a big tournament. If the membership allows, I would think that would become a top West Coast candidate

LACC, if membership allows wouldn't USGA get first dibs? Haven't they been asking for LACC for years?

I believe so... but maybe the Walker Cup will change their opinion. I was just pointing out a course that would fit the bill
