The best in Florida?

If not, please provide your top ten.

I haven't played 10, but Seminole gets my vote for #1. Better topography and an ingenious routing that takes advantage of the sites features.

John, I simply don't have a large Florida sampling size, but if IC is better than either WW course or Streamsongs or Mountain Lake, then I would like to see it.

Based on 6 years ago, Indian Creek was my Florida #2 or #3 (to Seminole, Bent Tree) as private clubs go.

I got to play Indian Creek about 10 times over 4 weeks one March, with 3 corporate guests each round.
Loved the course, and the locker room had a wicked cheese and cracker set up!   The half hour tee times were great too.   We had to switch to La Gorse when our sponsoring member (we used his number and paid each week) became deceased.  When I was signing in the lady at the desk asked if I had heard from **** recently.  When I said no, she pointed over her shoulder to the club manager who informed me of our "problem", I guess he had died a few weeks before!

IC might be the best design in south Florida,  every hole seemed to flow in a different direction, good movement, not as flat as expected.

I think Seminole is better, but I'd join Indian Creek over any course in the State.

I'm particularly fond of the way the course is grassed and the impact that has on play.
Helpful and hurtful - but far more interesting for the all the additional options.

It's also an excellent example about the value of understatement.

Indian Creek is a very nice course with a solid routing and pleasant green contours.  Despite the comment below by Gary, I thought it had very little natural land movement.  There are lots of large bunkers but just a boatload of room off the tee.  I don't think it has more than a couple of very good holes although none of the holes are objectionable.  It has a way cool clubhouse.

1.  Seminole
2.  WW Pine Barrens
3.  Mountain Lake
4.  Calusa Pines
5.  Pine Tree
6.  CC of Florida
7.  Indian Creek

I haven't played TPC Sawgrass or either Streamsong yet --- remedied in 1 months time for all three.

Seminole has a complex and terrific routing with outstanding green complexes and a ridgeline which gives the property some topographic features.  Mountain Lake has a wonderful piece of property and some very bold Raynor features...like most Raynor courses, the bold features create fun and interesting shots.  I will admit that I am not convinced that Mountain Lake is among Raynor's very best work and accordingly, I think it often gets rated lower than it otherwise might.   Calusa Pines is an engineering marvel with a great variety of holes and wild greens.

Just my opinion.

I feel that Calusa Pines, Mountain Lake and possible McArthur and all better golf courses than Indian Creek. Of course it is hard to beat IC's locker room and obviously the setting is spectacular.

Some regard Indian Creek as one of Flynn's better efforts, particularly his use of bunkering on a relatively flat site to confuse the golfer's line. See this from GCA: http://www.golfclubatlas.com/feature-interview/wayne-morrison-december-2009/
