All-
Hoping you can help. Like many great American courses, we were established early as a rudimentary set of holes (1890s), then or with that, was 9 holes, then became 18 holes by an architect (or in our case, the head pro), 1910-1930.
I want to recognize the 18 hole designer, as that is the course we play today, 99 years later.
Question is, are there any fine old courses out there that existed (in whatever shape) before a name architect came in and made it 18 or established the course that is played today?
Parameters-
Must be only architect recognized by the club.
Must be a top 100 course (not be an an elitist, but it will help my argument).
