Yes it's a Cirrus and it's my buddy's plane who flew out to meet us.  Believe it or not the two of us flew cross country to Bandon in it last year.  Quite an adventure...

The airplane was a Cirrus, and it was being flown by Barry Cohen who had a pretty long weekend of flying.  I believe he did Greenwich, CT to Teterboro, NJ to Ann Arbor, MI to Traverse City.  In between there were 36 holes on Saturday (Kingsley morning, Crystal Downs afternoon), then 18 holes at Kingsley on Sunday before giving us a nice sightseeing trip and heading home.

Jud - great pics.

I feel a little cheated that this went so fast and I did not have an opportunity to add another win to my total  ;)

Take the plane to Akron.  Great small airport very close to Sharon GC  :)  and Brookside is just 30 minutes down the road.

You can see why the photos are a bit hazy, all that "clag" up near Traverse City....had to get in front of that weather quickly or it would have been less fun getting home.

Nice tailwind on the way home, only a little over 2 hours from Ann Arbor back to drop my buddy off at Teterboro.

The course is even better up close, though I don't relish putting those crazy greens again.  And some of those upwind holes seemed really long, especially the way I was driving yesterday.  Bit of advice to anyone who makes it to Crystal Downs -- avoid "the scabs" at all costs.  That was not time well spent in them!

Short video of the flight above CD.  I believe we were a fair amount higher up for this portion of the trip.  We got a little lower for Kingsley.  And Barry is a great pilot. If you've not been up in a very small plane before, it can be a little tense at first.  But once he starts communicating with the tower in all of that airplane jargon, sounding like he actually knows what he's talking about, it tends to put one at ease.

Well, I do know some guys in the U-2 program.  I bet they have some hyper accurate maps of Cypress Point.  In fact, I'm told that the lone cypress in between Pebble and Cypress Point is a waypoint for training missions for the high fliers.
