Golf has lost one of the all-time, great magicians and entertainers in the game. No one I've ever seen had the ability to pull off the unreal more often than Seve. At his best, he surely is in the top handful of the toughest competitors in the modern golf era.
He was a complicated guy, with a lot more layers to him than he revealed, but he had a deep affection for the game few professionals could match. He was Europe's version of Arnie, although for increasing golf's popularity worldwide, Seve gets the nod. He really made that Ryder Cup competitive and infused that zeal and spirit in other players from Europe.
For him to be gone at 54, wow, almost cruel that a man with that much joy for living and brimming wiith vitality in his prime, has given his last. I hope the game honors him in establishing something of meaningfull significance in his memory. He often would speak about his youth, and the love he found for golf in those early days, with tremendous passion. Something to help youngsters find golf of a non-corporate nature would seem fiitting.
Rest in peace Seve, you gave much to be remembered and will certainly be missed.
