What template holes would CBM choose today?
« on: February 21, 2011, 01:54:00 PM »
And which ones would you choose?

If CBM were to survey the golf world today, would he choose the same holes to copy? Would he add others in addition to the ones he chose? Would he replace some?

I don't have the breadth of experience to really come to any definitive conclusions myself, other than to note how much I watching Riv's 10th and ANGC's 13th on the tube. Maybe the 17th at ANGC, too.

It is hard to choose the same holes today, because so many NLE.

He would not choose to copy any holes and he did not when he built National.

But he might find some new FEATURES that he liked and incorporate them into new courses that he was building.

But then again, even after 100 years I doubt he would change his belief that the best features came from the great courses he studied in Great Britain.
