Surf Coast Knockout...Would you have selected this routing?
« on: January 23, 2011, 02:55:22 PM »
In addition to being a novel and exciting format for tournament play, take a look at the loop they selected for the Aussie Tour's SCK.

Then, comment on whether or not you would have selected this loop.

Finally, select a six-hole loop on your favorite course for drama and champion identification and tell why it kicks it, old school.

Have at it.

Firstly, there are no good holes on the course, so there was  no problem there. I think it was smart to have 2 par 5s and a very long par 3 on the routing, as it makes holes being halved more unlikely. and there are only 6 holes.

Dave,

I thought 11 was a pretty good hole.

I think it is all relative, Mike!

Nice bit of land, ok hole, IMO.

Hae you heard much about what the players thought of the event?

David's right in that it's a mediocre course.
I was thinking of which holes one would select if the event was held at Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath or another Sandbelt course.

Members at my Club have a fine tradition of heading out, en masse, after drinks, to play holes 1 - 6 again.
Upto 30 at a time once played the loop, walking up 6 with stakes on the line,
marching towards the Clubhouse at dusk, with most golfers eliminated on earlier holes.

It has always sounded like great fun to me.
