A New Template?
« on: December 19, 2010, 01:28:46 PM »

Holes 7 at Old Mac and 3 at Diamonte are architecturally similar. Both holes give options of the tee and have uphill aproaches. They also take advantage of a ridge that runs through the property much like a Sahara hole.Could these holes become a new template. At Old Mac it is the only non-template hole but a favorite of many.

A great question Anthony.

I would say no even though they're architecturally similar. To me it seems like template hole can be constructed on land with no more than 10 feet of elevation change. Holes which move in and out of terrain as large as Old Mac (hole 7 at least) and Diamante could have template hole greens, but I don't think anything built on them can be called a template hole. That's just my interpretation. :D

I think it is good for routing also.It gets the player over a ridge without a totally blind shot.
