THIS is the best improvement I've seen.  God took the trees... the insurance company will pay
to take them away.  Luckiest membership on the planet (Glenrochie CC)...

Spend a week on the ass end of a chainsaw and see if you still think tornadoes are great.  My members don't seem to think they are so lucky.

Bruce,

At the risk of sounding flippant.  Given the state of the economy, i'm sure there are many who would love to be on the ass-end of a chainsaw for a few weeks if it meant putting food on the table.

I did not mean to sound insensitive regarding the clean up but as a strong advocate that trees serve absolutely no purpose on a golf course except for shade FAR away from greens, tees and fairways....  My comments were purely GCA and I apologize if I made light of what has been a tragic month.

Alex,

Thanks for posting the picture.

# 17 is a terrific hole that's been dramatically improved vis a vis tree removal.

And, there are many other holes that have benefited as well.

The four hole finish at ECE is about as difficult as you can find for amateurs.

And, the 16th green is one of the great double plateau greens in golf.

ECE is a course that's challenging, aesthetically pleasing and fun, and to add to the mix, it enjoys a good breeze as it sits high up on the second ridge of the Orange Mountains.

The tree removal allows that breeze to impact the golfer on every hole.
