Have you played Bandon for free?
« on: November 30, 2009, 06:32:21 PM »

  Steve Salmen has.

By betting his 5' 11" freind he could not dunk a basketball.

After a year and a half of training the big day came.

And off went Steve on an all expense paid trip to Bandon.

I'll bet Bill McBride can't dunk a basketball.

Yes.  But that is because The Resort extends an incredible deal to folks that have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Not that any of us are looking for handouts, but it is absolutely the most generous offer that I have witnessed in my 10 years in the AF.

Gray!!  Where is your pictorial account of our rendevous Friday!!??

Seems the sun even shines on a dog's ass once in a while.

Beeeelly, yo so stooopid!

(sorry, had to do it!)

What does it matter if the poor player can putt all the way from tee to green, provided that he has to zigzag so frequently that he takes six or seven putts to reach it?     --Alistair Mackenzie--

I did not know that.  Wonderful gesture by Mr. Keiser.

Many friends have paid for other friends, but Mike Keiser pays every time he plays there.  And so, much to his amazement, did Arnold Palmer.  True, that.

Terry:

Mr. Keiser actually pays green fees when he plays?  Why would he bother?  (Out of one pocket and into the other.)

Of course, he does take a caddie every time and pays them well.  That's my deal, too.  I wonder if they would start making me pay green fees if I moved closer to Oregon?

TD,

You'd have to apply to transfer your non-resident membership... :-*

My son, Giles, played for free. He turned up just to look and somebody didn't need his second (or third) round of the day and offered it to him instead. He reckons that Bandon Dunes is the best course he's ever played. I'm jealous!

I got to play Bandon Dunes 3 times for free in 1998.

The first time was when they brought all the offiicals from the Pacific Coast Amateur over from Eugene to the course to see it.  We could only play 16 holes as #1 and #2 had just been seeded.

The next two times were when we came down later that year to do the Course Rating for the Oregon Golf Association.

I got to play Pacific Dunes in 2007 when we had our Championship Committee tournament there they day before the US Mid-Am started.

I got to play Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, and Bandon Trails all for free in April, but I am in the PGA program and had my head pro call out for me so that helps.  To top it off though I got to play the 10 hole loop at Old MacDonald for free with the architect himself, definitely the best week of my life.

Does winning enough money off your buddy to almost pay for your trip count?   ;D

I have played many rounds and loops for free, having done 54 holes a day 5 or 6 times, with the last round free, and played many loops after doing 36 holes...headed back again in January.... ;D

I have played Pacific Dunes for free on every trip out there.

Here's the secret:
Pay for a room
Pay for a round of golf
Pay for a second round of golf

Third round of the day... FREE.

There you have it.  The "secret" is out.   ;D ;D
