The 16th at Wee Burn by Emmett is a great hole.

Matt -

There is a par-5 at Old Orchard (a Tillinghast course in Eatontown. NJ) that has an island green.

DT

That's true.  a reachable one too.  good hole.

Re: Island Green in Philly

Is this a first mention of this course at GCA?

I've never played Island Green when I lived in Philly, but I always wondered what it was like.  Given the location, I always imagined 6 hour rounds, noise, and shaky holes.

The only one I can remember playing is #15 at Old Tabby Link on Spring Island (SC).

Steve,

Certainly not by me. I do like it there a bunch - O'Brien doesn't because he doesn't understand that a par 4 can be good without requiring driver off the tee.

The 4th hole three is a cracker as well.

Kyle is right. I dont know what par four is without my driver. kyle is mad he hasnt seen as many good par fours as me in his life and hes been playing golf for 10 extra years!!!

I find this point highly debatable. Let's settle this like men, with acerbic quips and egomaniacal posturing.

Well, those who've met both of us will understand why I'd prefer not to settle it with a fistfight!

no.  it's definitely better than average for a reasonably priced public course.

The Springs resort in Wisconsin had one... actually, I think it was two greens from different nines sharing one island.
