No 6 at Blue Bell Country Club (Palmer): a very easy par 3
« on: September 17, 2009, 03:02:34 PM »
Here is the view from the tee on the par 3 6th hole at Blue Bell Country Club outside of Philly:

Must be simple as can be, right?  Just about 160 yards, a simple little 7 iron or so, eh?

Well, the facts speak for themselves:  on Labor Day two fellows in the same foursome both made aces on the hole using 7 irons.  It was the first hole in one for both players.  To top it off, one fellow had not played in 6 weeks b/c of an injury!  Apparently their ball marks were about 4" apart.

Joe Juliano reports on the story here:  http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/20090917_One_hole-in-one_follows_another_at_Blue_Bell.html

I've played Blue Bell (Palmer) many  times. 6 is a birdie opportunity. The par3 3rd hole is a tiger from the tips at 240y but as Joe says in the caption to his photo it's manageable at 190y or so:

I was two groups ahead of the hole in one foursome.  They have an 8 man skins game.  Not often that a hole in one doesn't win a skin.  Pretty substantial bar bill, good thing they both had hole in one insurance.
