Golf in Argentina ?
« on: February 04, 2009, 09:49:28 PM »
I have a friend who is traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and he would like suggestions of the best courses to play in that city, and for all of Argentina, for that matter.  For those of you with knowledge, please suggest away...

Thanks,
Mitch

Jockey Club in San Ysidro 45 minutes north, Dr Mackenzie 1928?  I was there with my wife for a big number anniversary and we played no golf.  BA is a great city, think Paris Southern Hemisphere.  Golf would be an added bonus.

yeah, he should play the jockey club.  its cheap too, given the exchange rate.  or at least it was as of a couple years ago.

San Ysidro is to Buenos Aires as Santa Barbara (or Montecito) is to Los Angeles.  It would be great to stay in a little hotel in San Ysidro and play a couple of rounds over each of the two courses at the Jockey Club.  Ran has a good profile here on the site.  I'm sure the club could make recommendations for hotels.

In addition to the Jockey Club, Olivos Golf Club and Buenos Aires Country Club.  I played Olivos when I was there.  I had to rent clubs and they gave me a wooden club head driver and three wood and some old forged irons.  The ex president of Argentina was a couple of groups ahead of us.

Thanks for these suggestions.  Any others outside of Buenos Aires?

Everything has gone up in the price, I doubt you can play Jockey for less then 100 dollars. How long are you staying! How much golf do you want to play? Will you have transportation. I lived there for five years and have worked there for 18 years and still go every month. E mail or call me and I can give you all the details. I am in Chile..56984790164

Iīm living in Argentina right now and Jockey, Olivos, and BAGC are generally considered the best courses in greater BA.   Mar del Plata GC (4 hours southeast, on the coast) is also very good.  I havenīt played any of the other highly regarded courses, but am hoping to soon....
