It would seem the Sheik likes his cape holes...
It is rather unique in a Des Muirhead sort of way...
I love the tribute to the Church Pews, they must be Mosque Pews.
It is a pity not to have a more ground level view to count the buried camel mounds. ::)
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Dying to know who designed that course.

Check out the cart paths running along the water's edge on all the outgoing holes (both nines).

Could this be the Taj Exotica Resort in Doha, Qatar?

The Doha Golf Club has one 18-hole golf course, the Championship Course designed by Peter Harradine, and one nine-hole course for novices and less experienced golfers. The biggest event to be held here is the Qatar Masters, which attracts some of the top golfers on the European tour.

Too green for the middle east, especially Qatar?
Thailand?

All that muddy water makes me think of Bangladesh but I don't think they have any golf. Maybe Pakistan? Some place with Muslim influences in the architecture anyways.

The course is Gassan Marina , in the Northern City of Chiang Mai , in Thailand . (Well done Mr. Bayley)

Its the 3rd course built by Gassan , who seem to have ideas of a golfing empire , in the area .

Tom , it was built by Mr. Pravit Reang-po  :P

Built on the largest lake in Chiang Mai , the longest course in Thailand ......blah, blah , blah .

I cant find the company website at the moment , but I really liked the reviews on this site here :

Couple of great reviews at that site including:
"Course design extremely bland"

How on earth did you stumble upon this Brian?

Int. Day

Camera shows a control panel. In the centre is a screen with ...(insert storyboard/production drawing).

A well manicured finger touches the screen.  The water starts to churn furiously.

Camera tilts upwards showing a window with the same view.

Gradually the lake widens and a fleet of Nuclear submarines surface.

I know it's a bit late but I was going to guess the actual city as well...

You don't have to believe me though...

It looks like the whole idea was to make the center water feature a sort of reflecting pool for the club house / mosque.  But I'm confused as to why the club house and parking lot are not then perpendicular to the center lake out the back door.  Things don't line up correctly and that would seem to be the point to this.

Peter,

I believe we are looking at Bhuddist archtecture, not Moslem.
