For those who love Cypress Point
« on: October 17, 2008, 10:42:34 PM »
A signed print of Forrest's beautiful course map is available on Ebay for those who might be interested...

Limited Edition Print of the Plan of the famous Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach California at 12 x 20 Inch in wood frame. This is No. 9 of 200 in a series by Golframes. The print is signed and numbered in pencil by the author, Forrest Richardson. This print is made from the original that hangs in the locker room of the club. The original is about five feet across. The frame is renewable composite wood with a Canadian Walnut finish. The "glass" is clear styrene so it can be shipped with no issues. The second photo shows the detail of the print. This series of 200 is mostly donated to charities (golf tournaments, fund-raisers, etc.) with a few sold elsewhere.
"And so," (concluded the Oldest Member), "you see that golf can be of
the greatest practical assistance to a man in Life's struggle.”

I'm curious, did the club commision FR to do this? I was surprised when I first saw this in the locker room and his name was on the bottom.

Check recent threads on this topic - you can also buy these directly from Forrest's wife Valerie.  And I think at a better price than on eBay.

Valerie has been handling the prints through Golframes .... a service she started to serve a few clubs. Unfortunately the Golframes website is not yet ready for prime time, but you can usually find them on eBay because she gets so many requests. You can always e-mail me for her info.

As for the original, it was done for the chapter in Routing the Golf Course concerning Cypress. The original simply needed a home and I figured the best place was the club itself. Obviously I am very proud they wanted it and have displayed it so prominently.

Thanks to Mrs. Richardson, the Cypress Point print is the second thing I hung in my house.  So it hangs in pretty good company with my favorite KY Derby print by Bart Forbes.

PS
I've lived in this house for 3 years and 1 divorce.  Wonder if I should've hung up a few more colorful pictures earlier?!!?  ;)
