As I said in my post, I was there a long time ago. Glad things have changed.
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Tom,

In the bottom of the 2 pics of hole 6 you can get a good sense of the changes.

Behind the current green you can see the area (depression in the granite shelf) where the new green will sit just above the tidal pool. Pic is at low tide... water comes in 75% of the way up the narrow passage.

The tees go all the way to the edge of the water... see the granite rocks 30 yards left of the second tee box from the back? That is the back tee for the new hole. You can see the high tide mark just behind the rocks. Same R to L runup characteristics will be employed with the left half of the green frint being the natural granite wall where a nice little pocket exists... perfect for a pot bunker perhaps???

At any rate that gives a sense of things to come... it should be a great hole.

Funny the wealthiest in the world don't feel the need to have such "security" whilst in Cabo.

Have been to Cabo on numerous occasions I certainly agree with everyone about the quality of Cabo Del Sol Ocean Course.  It, along with The Plantation in Kapalua, is in the top 5 of my all time favorites.
I'll be going back next spring, could someone clue me in as to what changes are going on at #7 and any others? Also what is the timing for this? We haven't been there for about 5 years now and I am very much looking forward to it.

This is not Mexico City, that is dangerous and scary. Its very safe down there. Yes, there are drives to get to the courses, but its simple. I find it safer then going to the Dominican or Asia. Just my opinion though

Ulrich....I know where you are coming from and can respect your viewpoint, but its such a hardedge approach......like how do you reconsile houses and other structures in the 'natural' landscape

I believe houses can look like they were especially built for the golf course or they can look like they were there before the golf course. I guess it depends on the number of houses and their clustering.

That being said, I don't think my viewpoint is "hard-edge". It is not so that I would refuse to play a perfectly good golf course, just because it doesn't have my preferred look. Also, I wouldn't want a great-looking course with dull holes. Several things come together to form a golfing experience and looks are only one of them. So for me Cabo del Sol (which I do not know at all) could be an 8, but with these looks it could not be a 10. Others may prefer this look and that is fine with me :)

Raymond,

None of the changes to 6 and 7 would be in process any earlier than May 2009 at the very earliest. If you have not been for 5 years there are a few subtle changes since your last visit.

Feel free to look me up and I wouldbe happy to walk you through the changes at 6 and 7 one day.

I routinely sleep on bar floors, in strip joint booths or even the beach when it gets too late and I don't know where I'm going.......and I've never had a problem with crime.

In fact I feel very much at home in Cabo. :)

Interesting.... when DO you find the time to craft such a cool golf course?
