The Cornell Adult University is organizing an 8-day GCA-led tour of golf in Scotland in October, 2009.  The tour will be led by Paul Albanese (of golf course design firm Albanese & Lutzke and director of golf architecture for the Edinburgh College of Art at the University of Edinburgh) and Frank Rossi (associate professor of horticulture at Cornell and a leading expert on golf course turf).

Looks like the tour will visit at least 6 courses (Troon, Prestwick, Crail, Carnoustie and St. Andrews New & Old) and will have daily seminars on GCA-issues related to the various courses played.

If you have a rich uncle interested in GCA and golf in Scotland, this is the trip to send him on. It ain't cheap!

They must be joking. I think we could hire some UK based GCA stalwarts, bung in a few dinners and still have change for the flight, caddies, kit kats and coke (+ vodkas).

I don't care how much you factor in for inflation and the increase in value of the pound v. the dollar, that price is outrageous. 

On my trip to Scotland last year, we played 8 more courses, stayed in more luxurious accommodations, stayed longer, still had our own driver and bus for the week, and our trip cost less than that INCLUDING the airfare!

Not to mention, how do you have a GCA trip of Scotland and skip Muirfield, North Berwick, and Gullane?

I thought the price seemed pretty outrageous as well and was shocked to see that airfare wasn't even included.

Edit:  And to boot, most of your dinners aren't covered either..and when they are you get chopped liver?

Like a lot of "affinity" trips you have six participants paying the way for eight... the "hosts" don't pay anything, don't you know. In addition, there is at least $1500 per person in mark up added to each individual package for the trip operator. Too bad.
