London Golf Last Minute
« on: May 22, 2008, 08:10:36 PM »
I found out yesterday I need to go to London for work next.  I am flying out on Sunday and arriving on Monday.  Are the courses open on Monday and would they allow a single?  I do not have to report to work until Tuesday.

I am flying into Gatwick landing at 7:00am and looking to play Sunningdale and/or Royal St Georges.

I was more interested in know if the courses are open on Monday as a general rule.  I know most courses in the US are closed on Mondays.

Paul - I take it from your comments that this is your first trip ever to London?

Paul Monday is a Bank Holiday over here and that will make it more difficult. RSG will have virtually no members playing there and certainly no visitors unless you've got an intro.  This is also the likely situation at other private clubs but it doesn't hurt to try.

Please try the Addington, one of Doaks 31 flavours(sp?) of golf and a total joy.  Let us know if theyve tightened up on visitor play under the new management. Relatively easy to get to from Central London.

IM me you email address if I can help more.

As Tony said it's Bank Holiday here on Monday. You should be able to get on the Addington in the afternoon but it will probably set you back £100. That would be money well spent however. I played there a few weeks ago and the course was in fantastic condition and great fun as usual.
Splosh! One of the finest sights in the world: the other man's ball dropping in the water - preferably so that he can see it but cannot quite reach it and has therefore to leave it there, thus rendering himself so mad that he loses the next hole as well.
