I'm a caddie at Bandon, and have a) lived in Pebble Beach and b) caddied at other resorts including Sawgrass and Sea Island.
The genius of a Macdonald tribute at Bandon is at least partly due to the "retail customer" Mr. Keiser has drawn to Bandon. Nowhere else have I seen appreciation for golf architecture as through these customers I guide around the courses daily.
Would a golfing history lesson work at Pebble Beach or Sea Island? Probably not, wrong customer base. Will it work at Bandon under the guidance of Mr. Doak? Based on what I've seen in the hundreds of customers I've caddied around the courses, absolutely.
