Great thread.  The diagonal ridge, as opposed to a horizontal ridge, is a delightful feature for a par 4 or par 5.  There is the built-in risk reward aspect of selecting the line for your shot that will often make or break the hole.

Thanks for all of the great photos, especially the one of Pennard.  That place really intrigues me.

Terry, Agreed. But don't leave out the par 3's. Riv's 4th, although virtually unusable when the KK isn't dormant is a wonderful feature to the hole. C&C used it a couple of times at The Colorado Golf Club on the par 3's, giving a low ball hitter the option of trying to sling one in there.
