George, you have some catching up to do!
This hole is a strange one to take in - there is a lot happening.
POSITIVES: 1) The green, its superb without being anything like ott. The combination of the left greenside bunker and the raised back of the green are a wonderful compliment to each other. 2) I like how the hole flows to the right. I think some thought has to be given to running out of space on the left. 3) The little hump guearding the front left! 4) The interplay between the centreline bunkers and the first set of fw bunkers on the right. The best line of approach is well protected, but not so much so as not to tempt.
NEGATIVES: 1) The left fw bunker. A bailout option normally leaving a poor angle is limited. The rough is more than enough defense down this line - PENAL BUNKER. 2) Layup area after trying to recover from a wayward drive (or for a short hitter) is awfully narrow and there is a bunker guarding the best approach line.
VERDICT: Very good hole that most would be very pleased to earn a par on - almost like a birdie which means its really one of those 4.5 par holes.
SUGGESTION: 1) Fill in outside left bunker. The rough and poor angle are enough pain for taking the safe option off the tee. 2) Not sure two bunkers are necessary on the right corner. I would fill in the right one and create fairway around the left one. If I recall correctly the land on the right flows toward the left bunker. This could make for a stonking collecting bunker. 3) Fill in lone fw bunker on right. Its a layup area for somebody already in trouble. 4) Widen fairway where it narrows after the lone right bunker - see #3.
