So apparently the RAC have an out of town clubhouse near London with two courses... it's one of the small number of places in the UK where you can only play with a member...

My grandfather was a life long member of the RAC but I never knew about these courses, so I'm guessing they're fairly new. Has anyone here played them or knows anything about how good they are?

They have been around quite a while...I played them a few times in the mid Nineties and I am sure they had been there for a good while longer.

I would not travel far out of my way to play either...unremarkable parkland courses.

I've played there a and I'd call the couirses not unremarkable (sorry, Philip!)..  Some good elevation changes and an interesting routing to the Old course, as I remember (seem to have lost the stroke saver), plus the patina of age (Fowler, 1930?).  There are a lot worse places to find youirsefl golfing your ball near to London.
