Have a look at this.

The question is, how many great courses must Mike do before this clip is forgotten?

How many penalty shot is this?...

Let's see: if he was putting for a par 4

This is not a double touch, this is changing on purpose the flight or roll of a ball (2 strokes)

Getting hit by our own ball (2 strokes)

so the other putt must have been for a 9.

I don't know if I'm right.

Sorry Mike to bump this up again but I have to say, you showed great commitment and athletic form in your diving save attempt.  Perhaps learned in rugby?

This is another example of a topic that has been covered and covered and discussed and discussed.

I will admit its a classic.

The only saving grace was it was on one of the great short par fours in golf - the 14th at NSWGC.

Philippe.

I was putting for a birdie in the first round of the Australian PGA. I  feared your secnario - ball hits me,ball hits club,I move the ball - but it was only a one shot penaly for 'ball at rest moved'

I met an R and A guy who does a lot of rules seminars for them and this is on the tape he shows. He does some in Russia and his comment was ' it's almost impossible to make a Russian laugh but this always does it'

Mike,
When something that bizarre happens I guess all you can really do is have a sense of humor about it, and it looks like you do.

What score did you have to record on the hole?

Mike,

Did you blame your caddie at the time?  :P

Mike

They probably 3 putted also because you altered the green on their putting lines with your "swan dive"

You give the Aussies a bad rep team with those "butter" fingers as well  ;D

Mike, in your repertoire you have one of the all time greatest golf bloopers, but you still have a ways to go to catch up with the quantity of Woody Austin's gaffs.... but you probably aren't really trying all that hard!   ;) ;D 8)

Anyone can fall backwards into a lake or break a putter over their head.

Mike, that was a pretty complex series of moves.  How many years of practice did it take you to perfect them?

(Don't try to tell me you are a natural!)

They teach Aussies to fumble 4 hours a day from the age of 2 ;D

Well, thank you ;)

As everyone knows we Irish will 'rip out' the Aussies at any sport(esp. Rugby :D).

Padraig you seemed such a nice guy when we met, imagine bringing this up here ;)

Well as I'm becoming one of the old timers around here I can only say that this has been discussed before and as then I refer you to another side of Mike Clayton.

The thread below contains one of those GCA moments that make this site so great.

Scroll past the pictures to Chris Kane's comment and then down to Mike joining in.

(I like to think of Mike as a formative influence on a certain someone - imagine how he might have turned out if he hadn't once worked for a man with a sense of humour).

Mike,

I hadn't heard the part about your playing companions three-putting because they were laughing so hard!

That's funny  :)
