New member of the Hole in One Club!
« on: January 02, 2007, 12:46:40 PM »
After thirty years of playing since I was 16, I finally got a hole in one on Saturday, 12-30-06, at Angeles National Golf Course in L.A., 12th hole 130 yards with a nine iron into the wind. Any body else wait this long for theirs?
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

I am still waiting... going on 35 years of play.  I'd say congratulations but I remain too envious.   ;)

BTW you mean Angeles National GC, off the 210, right?  Cool hole to get one on....

That is the course, Tom, the green is 100 yards long, but about 15 yards wide, pin was up front and my ball kicked left and the flagstick stopped it for a second, then it fell.

Nice shot, Ace!

It only took me 11-1/2 years which I figure is roughly 1,200 rounds and nearly 5,000 Par 3's.

Then again, if I played the same tees as Huck I'd probably be waiting another 20 years at least. I just wish mine had been with a cut driver around a pond from nigh unto 200 yards like our own Bill McBride.

Congratulations,  it is a great experience.

Tim and Tom, I waited forty years for my first hole-in-one.  In the next five years I made three more.  Keep on plugging they came in bunches for me.

Tommy - I can't decide whether to have faith or to just be agnostic in this area.   ;)

Tim - I remember the hole... very cool indeed, huge green.  Well done!

Tim,
Way to go. I started in '55 and got mine in '82. It is about time for a repeat.

Congratulations Tim,

I am also ACELESS.  ::)

I did damage the lip of a cup on the fly this year on a ~170 yard hole, but bounced 12 or so foot by and missed the putt coming back. >:( ;D

Took me 40 years, more than half of which you might say I was on a sabattical from golf.

45 years of playing and still waiting.  Had to watch my dad make 6 lifetime aces, 3 in one year and two of them in the same month.  No justice.

Who was the quickest? I think mine came in my 3rd year playing. And I probably hadn't even played 100 rounds of golf to that point.

Not that I'm rubbing it in. :)

Congratulations, Tim.

Congratulations Tim!
I had my first on August 13, 2006 at Lake Jovita North Course 17th hole!
I never saw it go in - forgot to put my glasses on! I was just glad it was dialed toward the green the way I was playing that day.. proves once again to Never Give Up!
If you inform PGA.com about your hole in one they send a "Hole in One" certificate which is nice to have and an opportunity to sign up for their Master Card as well.  :-\

A guy in my foursome today at SFGC aced "Little Tilly"
Hole 13.  His first.  Never Gets Old to see this.  What a shot to the back right "sucker-ish" hole location and what a hole to get it on.

Yeah baby!!!

I started playing when I was 7 years old. I waited only 51 years...I watched a perfect 6 iron draw in, take 2 hops and roll in.

My reaction was one word "finally"
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Got my first one in July and picked up my second one in November 4 1/2 months later.  I'm only 28 right now so I hope I don't get deprived of any other for the next 50 years or so!

I had to wait 9 for my first - holes that is.  8)

9th hole, 120 yards downhill, 5 iron bounced over the front bunker, curled round the green and in to the hole. I was 11 at the time and I think it was the only shot all round that got airborne.

I've had 3 eagles on par 4s, the latest this year at the 12th on Merion East (saved me from 3 or 4 putting).  No aces ever and it looks like I'll never get one.  I think Tom Paul has more than his fair share and he's denying us ours  >:(

Dear Mr. Paul,

It is a great honor that I am able to cause so much consternation, consertnation, and skeleto-muscular difficulty.  I shall pass your kinds words along to my long deceased ancestors.  :-)

It is pronounced "floom" or "flume" if you prefer.  Rhymes with Troon and the "P" is silent.  It's a pain in the neck to spell when ordering pizza, or making dinner reservations or a tee time so I always just give the name "Clark."

I don't know what lovely jubbly means, but getting a hole-in-one on your first ever round must be as rare as Haley's Comet!.  I've had three, with one of them coming on my birthday.  That was fun...
