I am back at school in Vancouver and I have finished my summer job on the golf course. Here are some pictures that I took about 2 weeks ago of holes 1-9 (I had previously only posted pictures of the back 9).
I highly recommend working in golf course construction (even if it’s only a summer job during your LA degree, Ryan). I learned a ridiculous amount and it is highly rewarding work seeing a golf course take shape and turn green.
It’s also funny how many people read golfclubatlas.com. One day my supervisor commented on my posts and mentioned he checked out the website from time to time.
Hole #1 Very interesting par 5 opening hole. The landing areas are crazy if you were to try and stretch your first and second shots.
Hole #2 This isn’t a great picture but the hole is dogleg right
Hole #3 A nice little par 3. It’s the least spectacular of the par threes on the course but I still think it is one of the best.
Hole #4 This hole is the furthest from the water and plays into the grasslands. It’s hard not to like holes like these.
Hole #5 I have to admit that although this hole isn’t near the water it is one of my favourites. The hole is coming towards the camera with the green at the bottom. McBroom did a good job of hiding the cart path on this one.
Hole #6 Par 4 towards the lake. Although the front tee decks are in line with the fairway, the back decks are way off to the side and make for an interesting tee shot.
Hole #7 I wish I had a better picture of #7 because it is probably the most spectacular on the course. It is a par 3 with a daunting tee shot to a green on a ridge between two ravines. The tees decks are above the orange excavator and the green is above the pine tree that can be seen between the two white surveying stakes. It’s an amazing hole.
Hole #8 This picture shows the green of the par 5 eighth that runs along a lake-side cliff ala Pacific/Bandon Dunes (ok, maybe that’s a stretch)
Hole #9 This is another awesome hole. The fairway is on a ridge and runs uphill to the green. I think this would have made an awesome 18th hole and I still don’t know why they had this nine play first.
Lots of dust one morning on hole #1. It was days like this that we were quick to grab the cab tractors in the morning
