There is a very good reason why Wright is not better known today - committees don't usually get credit for architectural changes, the people they hire to make the changes get the credit. Wright was chairman of the committee that hired Stutt & Braid and Stutt & Braid got the credit deservedly.
The first stage (1926) was completely rebunkering the course. The second stage (1931) was adding a completely new par-3 13th, lenthening the old par-4 16th by taking possession of a green on the No.2 golf course...this hole was then re-numbered the 17th. The old fearsome par-3 17th was then eliminated and the 18th tee moved back. The lost 17th was a famous golf hole.
Wright was a very good amateur golfer (you'll see his name among the others at British and Scottish Ams) and long time committee member.
