Ed,

For me backwards:
Doug Carrick
CE Robinson
Stanley Thompson
George Cumming

Not sure what it means though, it is just a connection. Only Graham Cooke is capable of conjuring up Stanley's ghost (according to his last article). ;D

Ok here's the first effort.  Kind of a big gap in the start, keep scrolling there's plenty there. I'm sure a slew of folks are missing, but at least it gets us started.  If anyone is missing or you have dates, relationships to change or add-ons, just send me a change order ;D  Maybe color coding for "schools"?

Cheers!

Alex
Geoffrey Cornish did this a couple of years ago and it was published in Sports Illustrated. He identifed something like seven sub families. I can't remember them all, but I think Stanley Thompson was one, with RTJ underneath. Dye was one. I don't recall if there was an Old Tom Morris tree. I know one was Douglas Rolland...which I thought hurt the credibility of the excercise.

Close.  It was 6, and they ordered the trees in terms of influence:

1. ROBERTSON
2. ROLLAND
3. TILLINGHAST
4. DYE
5. THOMPSON
6. FAZIO

Obviously, that's Uncle George, not Tom.

Jim,
Fantastic effort! Thanks for getting it rolling.

A few additions would be having Todd Eckenrode come of the Gary Baird branch, as that is who Todd was working with before going independent.

I'm pretty sure Rick Jacobsen told us in Feb that he was with Nicklaus for a while before going solo.

Mike DeVries worked for Tom Fazio at one point.

Wasn't/isn't Jim Lipe an associate of Nicklaus?

Neal Meagher comes off the Robert Muir Graves branch before Neal went solo.

Mike Nuzzo would either be an independent or come off Baxter Spann branch I suppose.

Ok, before I get to confused, or shall we say ,just to make sure I get it right.

Please send the change orders to my IM.  That way I can make a change and be done with it.

Please reference the tree that needs changing by its Patriarch, Immediate superior, new party.  Example: In the Wayne Stiles tree under W. Bruce Matthews III add Jim Thompson.

Please confirm ASGCA or BIGCA certs if applicable.

I'l try to update a couple times a week.

Thanks!
