Maine Fall Golf Questions
« on: October 19, 2005, 12:34:32 PM »
I'm thinking about traveling south to Maine pretty soon, so I have a couple of questions:

• What are some of the best courses to play?
• When are things closed?
• What are some of the best values?

Thanks for whatever you can tell me. We'll probably drive down through New Brunswick, crossing at Calais.

Too many permutations to be answered in words.

Belgrade Lakes just north of Augusta, Maine, is wonderful and much under-appreciated.

That'll teach you to ask about golf in Maine!

I've played exactly one (1) golf course in Maine -- Kebo Valley, in the Bar Harbor area.

Recommended.

The one course in Maine other than Kebo that I would like to play is Prouts Neck CC, which is private, but used to be accessible for guest of: http://www.blackpointinn.com/welcome.htm

Second Belgrade Lakes and greens fees should be less this time of the year. Southern Maine will increase your chances for decent weather.  Cape Arundel is often mentioned here.  I have also enjoyed the Ledges in York.
