Inspired by the resurrection of the "Cypress Infatuation" thread below, I have decided to post (now that I know how) my current and favorite computer wallpaper/screensaver. I was looking through some of my favorite golf trip pictures and reminiscing about my experience at Cypress Point Club. While I have several (although not nearly enough) great pictures of the CPC, the one below of the 15th is perhaps the best photograph that I have personally taken.
Perhaps as a friendly challenge, I would like to see some of my fellow GCAer's most cherished pictures with a short explanation of where (if necessary) and why. Because of my fascination with rankings, I would also like to hear comments about these pictures with viewpoints on who’s wallpaper/screensaver is the best. To steal some of Golf Digest’s rankings criteria I would choose to evaluate the pictures based on the following:
(1) Architectural Significance
(2) Esthetics
(3) Design Variety
Bonus Points:
(4) Lack of Humans in the Picture
IMO, there’s nothing worse than a picture of a very significant hole with awe inspiring beauty obscured by some fat ass with a bad swing wearing a worse outfit. Unfortunately, I too have ruined many a great picture in this way and felt it would be unfair to simply eliminate a picture containing a human being from this competition. I’m sure many of your great golf photos (like mine) are a cherished piece of history visually reminding you that you weren’t just dreaming. That said, I haven’t seen many people in Brad Klein’s picture essays.
I’m hoping to see some wonderful “amateur” photos the likes of which we do not see enough of on this site (IMO). Thanks!
