I'm going to give this a try using medal play.

Piping  Creek
1. 3    4
2. 4    5
3. 2    5
4. 4    3
5. 4    4
6. 4    3
7. 4    5
8. 3    3
9. 2    3
10.5    3
11.4    2
12.4    4
13.3    3
14.2    3
15.4    4
16.4    3
17.3    3
18.5    5
Final
PRC- 64, eight under (I rank it an 8)
Creek-65, five under (I rank it a 5, note that the back nine is 5 under)
I could provide more details of how the match went though I'm sure this method is flawed enough with out more wasted space :> ).

Piping had a 3 on #11, he got it up and down from the bunker on the left. Creek went to the tennis building to get a transfusion and assumed a bogey was made. The error was corrected before the card was signed.

Shouldn't The Creek eagle the 6th? Or put another way, is it fair for PR's 1st and The Creek's 6th to get the same score?

Also, I would give a birdie for sure to PR's Alps hole. As for The Creek, do you think its 12th and 18th holes deserve bogeys?

Regardless, a job very well done!

Cheers,

PS Our caddie swore that Crenshaw's favorite hole at The Creek was the 12th?! Surely he was mistaken and it was either the 11th or 13th?

Ran,
Number six at Creek was a nice five footer for birdie. The approach in was blocked and took an unreal bounce to five feet.
Number one at PRC was a nice drive and a eight iron to fifteen feet.

Number 12 at PRC was a four after hitting what looked like a great eight iron to find the pin wasn't up front like the caddy said, but in the back.

Please check the card. Number 12 at Creek was a boring par, number 18 up the hill missed a three footer for 4.

My favorite hole at the Creek is either 14 or 16. #6 is one of the best views in golf.

I'm not sure what Crenshaw was thinking regarding the 12th at the Creek. What did we miss? I've seen birdie made there from some very poor drives.
I also heard he thinks #7 is the best hole at Crystal Downs. IMHO #6 and #8 rank higher.

This is good stuff.

Couple of observatons:

#1. If Piping is a 3, Creek should be as well. The green at TC is far more interesting than its PRC counterpart. Some on this site have even suggested it is a redan.

#4. PRC is a very interesting hole and very demanding long par 4, with an interesting green complete with very subtle contour, while TC is a fairly weak Eden hole.

#5. This is one of the most underrated holes at TC. The line of trees down the right side and its early views of the Sound are breathtaking. It is one of the great parkland holes at TC. PRC on the other hand is kind of an awkward short hole that is pretty unremarkable. I think TC should pick up a stroke here.

#6. I agree with Ran, TC should be an eagle. A birdie for both diminishes the strength of TC #6, one of the top 5 holes on L.I.

- - More tomorrow, gotta run. But I love the topic. Let's get more contributions.

Shooter - Can you really play 14, 15, 16 at The Creek and not think that the 15th is the strongest? They need to cut back some of the reeds on #14. I think it has begun to detract from the hole.

Selfishly, I want to keep this thread up front, but I have a couple of more observations on this exquisite posting.

Creek, I would swap 10's birdie for 15's par, thus not changing the score, but adequately reflecting where I believe the strength of the course lies. This 15th hole at The Creek is so complex, i love playing the hole and then standing at the back of the green and surveying the hole I just played and remarking on how it differs from the two perspectives.

Piping - I think 18 deserves a birdie. Moreover, I think a stroke should be added to the 14th (if The Creek 6 doesnt deserve an eagle, this hole should not either - in the interest of fair play), and one deducted from the 16th, which I really love.

Shooter, again kudos to a great posting, let's get some chatter going.

Has anyone seen a better practice facility than the one at PRC? Where else can you hit lob shots over a loud bunch of croquies?
just wanted to get this back up
