Thanks, Doug.

Mr. Wexler --- This reminds me, once again, of an idea I floated here recently (and if you responded and I missed, or if it's already completed or in the works, I apologize). How about a book on Lost Golf Holes?

 Ben,

Some of my favorite fun places to play this year include:

  Lahinch
  Fenway
  Twisted Dune
  Stanwich Club
  Old Head
  Castlerock

While these are not all world class golf courses(Fenway is) I had a ball playing them all.  Paul

All the courses I played in Ireland were definitely fun but put in the context of this thread, Tralee was really, really fun. I loved all the courses we played ... but no other course beckoned me to "give it another go" like Tralee did.

Barona Creek, east of San Diego.  Very spirited new layout.

Husum Hills, Washington; my partner and I taking thirty bucks from friends after a day of free golf, (thanks Don S. - owner).  As is what happens to earnings, it all went thereafter to the intoxication of contestants.

Just played Talking Stick South for the 3rd 4th and 5th time last week(still have not been able to get on the North course)and had a great time.Very generous off the tee but the approach shots could be a challenge.
Also Twisted Dune, Mid Pines and Pine Needles.

Adam Messix:

I remember that little Palm Beach C.C. You go past the Breakers and keep going for a few miles until that main road going up to the end of the island (North Palm Beach Way or whatever) ran right into it and you had to take an immediate right and go around it by the ocean the then you could get around it on the inland waterway side coming back, right?

A totally Jewish club like forever, right? Is that the one? Unbelievably restrictive--almost impossible to get in the drive! I always wanted to see that course and I never knew it was a Donald Ross. How about that!

I had a girlfriend for a couple of years when I was a teenager who lived just above it. There wasn't a nook or cranny in the entire island of Palm Beach we didn't know about to go makeout in the middle of the night. Even used to go out on the ultra exclusive Everglades in the middle of the night. And that Palm Beach C.C. looked like about the best makeout haven on the island but we never could figure out how to get in there. I never thought about playing golf on it but now I know it's a Ross maybe I better call her up and see what she's been doing for the last forty years!

Tom--

You are describing the correct Palm Beach Country Club.  You keep driving north from The Breakers on County Road, the road all of sudden makes a hard right bend and a quick left bend about 2 miles up, you are there.  Good luck getting in the entrance during the winter, especially now....  It's hyper exclusive, even more so than Everglades, but probably equal with Gulfstream Golf Club.

You are correct in describing it as almost exclusively Jewish, however I believe the Kennedy's were members there.  The former Kennedy compound is nearby from what I understand.  If you want some more details about the club, email me...adammessix@aol.com.

It's definitely worth the opportunity to see if you can get on.

Don't get too full of yourself, Ben--fame is fleeting.
