Sandhills-Best golf course in the U.S.?

Is this too strong of a suggestion?  Is this a stupid argument?  Does it matter?

Too strong and doesn't matter. I don't think it is stupid as I feel Sand Hills is one of my great pleasures thus far, but so was CPC, PVGC, Oakmont, Friar's Head etc... It is an awesome place and I only wish that everyone here gets an opportunity to enjoy it.

I personally have it tied with Shinney as the best I have played.  And, that is above Pine Valley and a few other Top 10s.

There are few things greater than making that turn at mile marker 55.

It is one of the best, and for me when it comes to the total experience, Sand Hills is the best. You are in the middle of nowhere, immersed in golf, in the company of like-minded people. And the crowning glory is the complete abscence of pretense at SH. You are at one of the GREAT golf courses in the world, but you are as relaxed as being in your own backyard. The staff at SH is superlative, and it matters not a bit if you are there with a member or unaccompanied.

For reasons Ed Getka outlined Sand Hills must be considered.

If someone said it was #1 it would be hard to argue with them.

If someone said it was Pine Valley that too would be hard to argue or dispute.

If someone else said it was Shinnecock Hills that too would be hard to dispute.

If someone else said it was NGLA ...........

Its a matter of taste and preference but Sand Hills must be on the short list. Sand Hills IS a unique and mystical experience that I would wish on every golfer at least once in their life. Its a place you dream about (I know- I need a life  ::) )

Its subjective.  If its you favorite then great.

Its not my favorite but thats why this type of debate could go on forever.

Geoffrey,

This is why I remembered and brought back the DECILEs thread. Sand Hills is "one of the best" but beyond that who the hell knows...

Best,

And the golf course is as good as anything I've ever played.  Cindy Crawford has a mole. Nicole Kidman laughs like a dork.  And Audrey Hepburn had a smaller rack than me.
OK, Sand Hills may be a nice little course, but when you've insulted Audrey Hepburn, you've gone to far! ;)
