Pat and Rick, all the other organizers and the club: thanks for a wonderful day and a great program.

Days such as that are such a great "added feature" to this great website. It is so great to match the faces with the "posted names" on the site.

Each time we attend these events we get to know each other better.

Pat the format was great. Brad, Gil, Mark, Rick and the two Rons were great - you could tell by the way the attendees were paying close attention to the presentations!!!!!

again, thank you

I am just suggesting some moderator intervention to focus the attention on architectural topics.Since time is so special someone needs to be keeping us on track.I think this comes from my responsibilty as a clerk of a Friends business meeting-for quiet people they go off track easily.

Mayday,

Had I felt that any discussion was going off track I would have intervened, but I didn't think that happened.

What did I miss ?

Patrick,
Thanks for putting together a wonderful day. It was definitely worth traveling overnight for. I think the agenda you have set up is a good balance and I felt I had many opportunities to engage others in conversation in between speakers.
I would like to reiterate my apologies to Ron Forse for nodding off occasionally (the red eye got the best of me :-\). The presentations were great and I thoroughly enjoyed learning from these guys.
I walked both courses the following morning and will start a seperate thread about what I saw.

See you guys next year! :)

Holy shnikey Ed!  :o  I hope you got a grand door prize or something for having to have been the longest to attend! (referring to your trip distance not your driving prodigiousness or other)  8)  KPIII at RC is a mere short commute for you compared to Baltusrol... :o

Ed, no worries then for you that it will be held at Barnbougle... ;D ;)

RJDaley,

Ed received recognition for his dedication and determination, having taken the red eye and arriving at Baltusrol on schedule.

Next year's winter get together, if there is one, will be held in the metropolitan New York area.

Some clubs that have been suggested are:
Inwood
Deepdale
Ridgewood
Sleepy Hollow
Winged Foot
Forsgate

Alpine did a wonderful job in accomodating us last year and Baltusrol did a fabulous job this year.  As much as I would like to return, I think part of the attraction is going to new venues.  It also seems that the month of February is perfect because we're not competing with football or March madness.

I also regret that I couldn't spend more time with each one of the attendees.  Managing the agenda, interfacing with the speakers and co-ordinating functions with the club limited my time for socializing.

Dinner, in a seperate room, would seem to be an ideal ending to a great day.  Hopefully, next year's event will be able to accomodate that feature.

I don't mean that you did anything wrong;i just  have a different perception of the value of time. You do a great job and it is well appreciated, although you let up on TEPaul after some early jabs.
Maybe before next year we can discuss this as we get close to the "annual" meeting.

I very much enjoyed the day and appreciated Baltusrol hosting the event.  The turnout was fantastic and the organizers and speakers all did a great job.  Well done everyone!!

Mayday,

TEPaul was in my custody on a work release furlough for the day, hence I thought it best to go easy on him.

I thought that he was rather well behaved, but I must confess, that I told him that the get together was a surprise architecture and birthday party for Bill Coore, and that he would be sitting at Bill's table for dinner that night, provided he behaved himself.

It's amazing what the right motivation will do to people.

It was a wonderful day.   ;D

I really enjoyed seeing everyone but I particularly wanted to point out the passionate work of Patrick Mucci and the incredible hospitality of Rick Wolffe, Bob Trebus, and the members and staff at Baltusrol for rolling out the red carpet for us.

In both cases, their love for the game and for sharing it with like-minded brethren led to the type of camaraderie and learning and just plain fun that those of us who were lucky enough to be there shared.

Patrick; Thank you.  You are a true gentleman and I'm proud to be your friend.

Rick and Bob; You guys went way beyond the call and I wanted you to know that your efforts were most appreciated.  Thank you for sharing yourselves and your wonderful club with us!

Mike Cirba,

Thanks for the kind words.

As you know, a project of this nature is solely a labor of love.

Ron Prichard indicated that architectue buffs are a small but passionate group and it's always nice when we get a chance to get together and meet one another.

I learned a great deal at Saturday's get together and only regret that I didn't get the chance to spend more time with everyone in attendence.

As I said, perhaps next year we'll be able to secure a facility that can provide us with our own room for dinner, which would allow us to do more socializing.

Lastly, I'm begining to change my mind about lefites, maybe they're not so bad after all. ;D

Dear fellow GCAers,

My hat is off to Pat Mucci for putting together a program for us that was truly first rate. I feel the decision to have four panels (two before lunch; two after) left us with adequate time for Q & A. Pat, I think you have the template in place for future events.

As a member of a club that hopefully will embark on a (another) golf course restoration/renovation in the hopefully not too distant future, I was particularly interested in the Hanse, Forse and Prichard panel. A couple of comments: these three fellows represent an embarrassment of riches in terms of talent at work today. (Where were they when our Club needed them nine years ago?) I was particularly encouraged by what Gil suggested during his discussion. I think it's very positive that currently we have architects sharing design ideas with each other. This spirit of cooperation, where egos are checked at the door, can only benefit the quality of future output.

As an aside, when I sat down at the beginning of the program, I looked at the yellow legal pads and wondered what they were for. PS: given my diminished mental capacities, I was glad they were available. There was great stuff flying around that I wanted to share with friends who weren't in attendance.

Thanks Pat and thank you panelists.

Mr. Mucci -

Capitulation to the jockocracy, which cost me the chance to attend this year, is not the answer.

Surely we can come up with some criteria better suited for golfers.

Henry -

I'm pretty certain those were far down on the list of considerations. There are other outings (official and unofficial) during other parts of the year - just keep your eyes open.

Of course, if you'd care to organize your own event, you can make up your own criteria! :)

Yes, thanks to Patrick and the speakers.  A good mixture of topics and courses.  Having lots of photos definitely kept peoples attention (better than last year).

A lot of fun.

Henry Moore,

When you organize your get together and need to select a date, you can select a time that best fits your schedule.

The date selected, February 28th had nothing to do with sporting events, it was a date that solely fit my schedule.
The non-competing sporting events were random luck.

Scott,

Dinner at Baltusrol was in their Grille Room, and we were interspersed with other Members and their guests who were having dinner.

It would have been inappropriate, as guests, to be popping flash cameras all night.

Hopefully, in future years, we'll be able to secure our own dinning room at the host club.

Herman Barron and PTurner,

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the event.

In thinking about next year, I'd love to have Ken Bakst,
Bill Coore, Tom Doak and Brad Klein who has given us two great presentations, as some of our speakers.

Any suggestions with respect to speakers and topics would be appreciated.

I honestly can't think of anything I'd do differently, with the exception of the suggestion that everyone stand up and introduce himself. JohnV and Mark indicated this is SOP for USGA gatherings and it works quite well.

Paul -

Glad to hear it fits. You earned it as one of my favorite posters. :)

My only regret is that we did not get to spend more time meeting and speaking with some of the other attendees .                                                                                                                                                                     Thank you Pat , Rick , and Mark Kuhns.  I just mailed out  a few snail mail thank you's.                                                                                            For those so inclined: Pat Mucci, 1135 Clifton Ave. Clifton, NJ.07013---Rick Wolffe,Tom Paluck(treasurer), Mark Kuhns, Dan McHugh(asst. Mark Studer,

I think that was everyone's desire, to spend more time with the other attendees, but, it's a difficult task given our agenda and the limited amount of time we have.

That's why I think a dinner, in a room for just the attendees, would be great.

Thanks for coming and we look forward to seeing you next year.

George Pazin,

The self introduction suggestion is a good one, and we'll incorporate it next year.

Patrick,

Not to take anything away from Saturday's event, if you get Coore, Doak and Ken Bakst next year, you might have a problem keeping tickets out of the hands of scalpers.  ;D
