Could someone in the know enlighten me as to the merits, if any? of this destination for golf... also around the area - ANY good golf courses? or architectural gems worth visiting along with golf course architects or practices? or advice....  ???

Thanks.

Winter golf in Seattle/Marysville?  Think drainage!!

On the public side in Marysville you have 3 choices: Kayak Point, Battle Creek and Cedarcrest.  Kayak Point is the best of the 3, but it is very soggy during the winter months.

Next closest would be Legion Memorial in Everett, a pretty good muni that underwent some major renovations in the past decade and drainage is much improved.

Continueing south you have Walter Hall and Jordan Wall's favorite course Harbour Pointe.  Harbour doesn't drain particularly well and is fairly pricey, it has some good holes, but housing has seriously encroached on the course.

If you go north I would recommend Eaglemont in Mt. Vernon, a tough but interesting course, with fairly good drainage.

Further north  there are a number of interesting courses, Avalon, Homestead, Semiahmoo, North Bellingham and Loomis Trail.

Can't help you with the private side up north because I haven't played any of them.

Think of the fame, riches and women that will come with playing with a celebrity such as Jordan is at Harbour Point.

IM me on when you are coming...

Kayak is worth playing - can be soggy, as noted.  Altogether skip Battle Creek.

I like Snohomish - a fun, affordable, public course.  Not an architectural gem, but a nice "walk in the park" if you aren't expecting too much or overly concerned with pristine conditions.

Everett Golf & Country Club is worth a visit - on the private side.

Further north, Semiahmoo, Loomis Trail and Homestead are probably worth the trip.

Me too

Ummm, Harbour Point is a good Arthur Hills course (I am going to get shot..uh oh ::))
I like Mill Creek CC but some dont..that is private

I like Kayak Point, it is a fun track
Honestly though, most of your good options are going to be on the Peninsula (about two hours South of Marysville, and a ferry ride from Seattle) where Gold mountain has 2 courses, Mccormick Woods, and also Trophy Lake.

I am junior club champ at the Nile G&CC which is a small, quirky course and you can see some of it from I-5 but for a quick, fun round, that would be a good course to play.  I usually play there every day, but now the rain is coming..

When you decide to come on out IM me too..
Bring your rain gear..
I agree with Jordan. If you get a day to play 36 go to the peninsula and play Trophy Lake and the Olympic Course at Gold Mountain.
McCormick Woods is out there too..The problem there is O.B. and houses are on every damn hole.

I'll 3rd the Olympic Course and Trophy Lake, both are amoung the best public golf the Seattle area has to offer and both excellent draining courses for winter play.

Craig, Sean L, Steve L, Jordan and Jesse,

Thanks for the posts, and my apologies for not replying sooner.

I am travelling out this coming Wednesday, the 22nd I believe and staying for 7 days, leaving on the afternoon of the 29th.  I am visiting my gorgeous girlfriend (in case she reads it of course  ;) ) and her family for Thanksgiving - Yes, she is a Marysville lass!!  ;D

Thank you for all your suggestions and IM alternatives.. I will do so..  I know that Alysia is having to work maybe a c ouple of the days, so there is a chance for me to maybe come and have a look around any courses near..ish... as im sure she would rip my B* off if im gone for the day !!

Love you huny!

In case you were not aware, im a GCA for my sins and would like to get a feel for REAL drainage issues... Leash phoned me yesterday and i could hear the rain thumping down on the car hood!
