Whilst some of this will be fairly common knowledge for most people here, this is still a pretty good watch. And there are some very early course plans and construction photos.

Probably been discussed on here many times, but what struck me was the engineering boldness of the stadium banks and the original (wonderful) pyramid Clubhouse. I know Dye evisaged a "Pine Valley" rough around the edges presentation of the playing corridors, but the surrounds of that (now long gone aethestic and challenge) could be interpretted as a combination of Raynoresque banking and Muirhead-like structural bonkersness.
The juxtaposition of these two; core golf vs. surrounding stadium requirements was incredibly striking.
We know why the PGA Tour made the changes (the event is called "The Players" for many reasons!) but feel it is a real shame it was not left as a unique time capsule of extreme design (of its or ahead of its time) with all its exaggerated elements.
