Best four hole stretch in US golf

Playing St. Louis CC this past weekend got me to thinking about what the best four-hole stretch of golf is in the US.  I have three nominees:

2,3,4,5 at St. Louis CC
14,15,16,17 at Cypress Pointe
15,16,17,18 at Canterbury

Canterbury's has 2-4's, 1-3 and 1-5.  Both CPC and SL CC both have a very unusual back-to-back par 3's.  SL CC then goes 4, 5; while CPC goes 4, 4.  Are there any other stretches that deserve mention here?  In mind, these three hold everything; drama, challenge, intrigue, a sense of pride at survival, visually stunning perspectives, etc.

6-9 at Pebble.  There is no substitute.

I have not played any of those three courses.  But I would throw in Pebble Beach 6,7,8, & 9.   I would also add Merion 15,16,17,18.

I was stuck on my home track.  Plum has some great three hole stretches.  Our best is 12-13-14.  15 is a very routine hole.  Once we restore 11, I think it would be worth mentioning but still not in the league of the three I opened with.

arguably 6-9 @ PB .... however, 15-18 @ Ocean Hammock (FLA) is worthy of mention for USA public courses

Dan Kelly you are a genious.   That has to be on the list, because no one in there right mind considers "18" a round of golf at Sand Hills. Heck, after 18 you aren't even making the turn at that place.

I wonder why the four hole stretch at Pebble isn't 4,5,6,7 or 5,6,7,8 or 6,7,8,9 or 7,8,9,10. Anyone?

I vote for 14-17 at Cypress Point. but here are a few more for the fans consideration:

15-18 Friars Head
7-10 Friars Head
15-18 Shinnecock
13-16 Pine Valley

I am all for including  the Cypress or Pebble holes but what about Spyglass Hill, Nos. 1 through 4? Go over there during the qualifying rounds of the State and the A.T.&T. and you can witness some very nervous shot-making.

talk about a case of Huck's cherries. Based upon your reactions from seeing SA and SLCC I should warn you that if you ever get to Long Island and see Piping, Creek, and NGLA you will never return to Detroit.
my favorite 4 hole stretches without much thought:
the last 4 at TPC and Crystal Downs, the last 5 at Shinnecock, 13-16 at PRC, 5-8 at the Dunes, 3-6 at Dornoch.
and in true homer form 13-16 at Barton, I'll save Paul a post and mention that the last four at Beverly should be on anyone's short list.

For what's worth -- the "ultimate" four-hole stretch should have at least one par-5 and one par-3 and the two par-4's should be clearly different (length and configuration).

Clearly, the selection of 6-9 at PB works but the par-4's are both long and both follow the same general direction.

A better example might be 14-17 at PV or ...
Another -- 15-18 at Shinnecock

A lesser example might be the 3-6 at Bethpage Black.

Plainfield's 11-14 is also not a bad one but the 14th is a bit of a bear when played from the extreme back tees.

Another -- 15-18 at Desert Mountain's Geronimo Course although the 17th is a bit less in quality when compared to the other three.

I'm sure I can think of a few others.

haven't played as many courses as most on here, would concur that 15-18 at Merion are pretty awesome

how about 8,9,10,11 at Yale? 1,2,3,4 aren't too bad either.

11 to 14 at Cypress, or 12 to 15; 7 to 10 or 6 to 9 at Pebble;2 to 5 or 3 to 6 at Olympic Lake are none to shabby; 6 to 9 at Pacific Dunes, 11 to 14 TOC or 14 to 17; 6 to 9 at turnberry; 7 to 10 Troon or 11 to 14; 14 to 17 at N Berwick for openers

Why does the best four hole stretch have to include 1 par 5, 1 par 3, and 2 par 4's?  Par should have nothing to do with any stretch of great holes, IMHO.  If there were four straight unbelievable par 3's that were 110 yards long each, it would still rank as a great stretch of golf in my mind.
